I'm using my laptop to connect to the net using a router. 2 days ago i installed a speeder ( a program that speeds up game play : http://www.speederxp.com/ ) started it and my game and went afk.
after bout 5hrs i came back and ALL running programs develop a problem and had to be shut down including my firewall and antivirus i had to refresh my screen to get all the windows icon back on....Now my windows is unable to detect my firewall and antivirus and i'm unable to connect to the net anymore. I've tried running spybot, adware, etc but all came up with nothing i've even reinstalled my modem to no avail.

it sounds like windows had some kind of a problem with whatever speederxp did. I would do a clean reformat (after saving documents) and reinstall xp

Try uninstalling the program from Add/Remove Programs
