Need help deleting a program from my computer?

I need help deleting Avast! Antivirus. I tried to install Kaspersky Antivirus and it said that i need to uninstall Avast first, so I let Kaspersky uninstall it but it keeps saying that Avast is still there, but its not functioning.

It's not in the add/remove programs, so how can I completly remove Avast so I can install Kaspersky Antivirus??

If the other answers don't work you are going to have to clear the registry of your computer. I would not do this until it is a last resort because you don't want to delete a necessary file.
