everytime i log on to my computer an alert tells me that my homepage has been changed to about:blank.
when i log on to the internet the page url is http://asecurityassurance.com/ and the page says my computer is infected and it gives me some programs to download (Virus Heal, Antispyware Shield, Antivirus Golden, Malware Burn) they're all bogus. i change my homepage back to msn.com but when i log off the computer and go back on the homepage is about:blank again.
can someone please tell me what the problem is and how to get rid of it?
thanx in advance
Can someone help me with this spyware/virus problem?software
I believe this to be an example of a *smitfraud* infection.
Superantispyware will remove most smitfrauds, but if it doesn't, go with the smitfraudfix.
Superantispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/
Smitfraudfix: http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.p...
Edit: In reference to your warning about the site, I look at it this way; anyone who is here to help should know how to 'safely' check a questionable link, either with Site Advisor, or in a sandbox. If anyone gets infected in the security section, they probably shouldn't be offering security advice to begin with ;-)
