My computer is at least 4 years old (HP) and were about to reformat the hard drive a 3rd time due to problems. Id say its gone through hell. It went through a huge viral infection in which the only solution was to reformat the hard drive. The next time around it became infected again which then we had to reformat the hard drive a 2nd time. Since then till a few days ago its been running okay. It was slow but it still worked. Then 2 days ago it ALL OF A SUDDEN got screwed up again. IT now takes A LONG time to turn on and off, A LONG time to load a program or go through the internet, some programs have problems they can't even run, our norton antivirus refuses to update, our audio is out, and randomly some settings i had customized became defaulted. I scanned it for viruses and spyware and resulted in nothing. Im just getting so sick and tired of this running so slow and having a lot problems everytime. Do you think this is a sign telling me its time to get a new computer?

Well, depends what you want to spend. I am suspecting that you don't have an anti-virus software loaded.

If you can afford the money, get a new one. Technology hasn't changed that much, but it has changed enough to notice a nice difference.
