If i open 2 or 3 windows of Mozilla Firefox (or Internet Explorer) my computer slows down dramatically. At CPU usage the rate is almost always 100%. This does not happen with other programs. I tried reinstalling Mozilla, disk cleanup, installed an antivirus and scanned and deleted whatever it found wrong and also deleted all cookies and other temporary files that the explorer might store. The problem still persists. After running for about 1 min (with 2 or more windows of Mozilla) the task manager shows it to be "Not responding". Any ideas?

I normally open 2-4 windows of firefox browser at one go. I dont have the problem that you have.
When my browser is abnormally slow, i check for viruses and spyware and it comes to no surprize that there is spyware infecting my computer.
You may also want to check you memory or if you are running too many programs in the background.
Maybe the antivirus you installed is a computer hog.. (Norton or McAfee) try AVG or AVAST... quite easy on the system.

You may consider adding more memory.
If you are running Windows XP, that shouldn't happen. If you are running Windows 98 SE or earlier, all bets are off.
One thing in particular struck me as I read your question.
